The Bookworm

Along with "The Irritable Irishman" one of my oldest characters is "The Bookworm" aka "The Irritable Irishman's boyfriend" aka Devlyn. Originally he was just going to be a background character to play Finny off of in a Harry Potter RPG board a friend of mine talked me into signing up on. I wasn't honestly thinking about him all that much, but by the time we'd left the game Devlyn had become one of the favorite characters of almost everyone I'd rp'd with.

At first he was just a minor character, but by the time I'd finished fleshing him out by the end he'd become a slightly neurotic OCD clean freak. He's about a year and a half older than Phineas, being born in June (whereas Finny was born in October) He's technically supposed to be taller than Phineas but they're gonna be on the same body since I'm too lazy to try and hybrid him.

I literally just put in the order a few hours ago so I've got quite the long wait ahead of me but it got me excited enough to post and make a little collage of what I'm buying him from Alice's Collections.

Sorry about the lack of photo's this time. It's been tit freezing cold out for the past like month and a half so I haven't really done anything.

I did, however, finally get small enough jump rings to make Finny's snake bites.

I apologize for being such a shitty blogger for anyone who actually reads this. Depression is still kicking my ass but not posting anything has made me feel bad because I have all of like...30 page views. yay!
And Lo, I just found the connecter from Castiel (le laptop) to Taerius (le DSLR) so I don't have to fight with the SD card to get it to work. Huzzah! 

I hope everyone who reads this had a good Christmas. Mine kind of sucked but I did get to spend a week on the beach doing fuck all playing with shells and dead sea creatures.

Look! A Portuguese Man of War! This fucker could have kill me! (but not really cause I was only poking it's squishy head)

And a horseshoe crab that I was sadly unable to bring home to hang on my wall. :(

While there, hiding from my psychological breakdown in some bushes, I found the skeletal remains of what was once a tiny snake.

-Unfortunately I couldn't save the head.
-Fortunately there was a plastic bag right near the skeleton and I was able to pack as many tiny vertebra into it as I could.
-Unfortunately I was still pretty bummed about the fact that I couldn't have the head.
-Fortunately I found that they all fit in an itty bitty jar I bought years ago so I have a safe place to keep it.
-Unfortunately the vertebra is so tiny that I can't really get the best picture of it.
-Fortunately I did a photoshoot with Phineas anyway just for S&G

And just for fun I decided to change up his eyes a bit with some pinkish jellies I had laying around. It probably won't last very long but it's amusing me for the moment.

So Depression and general apathy towards basically everything in life has been kicking my ass lately and I haven't really done anything at all. So to make up for the lack of posting (For anyone who actually reads this) Here's a photo dump from the last like..three months or so.

The three year summer

So way back when in 2010 I had accidentally gotten a friend of mine so smitten with my Delf Lishe that she just needed one for herself. 

I dunno why, I've never felt a huge connection with her.

But Ly really really liked her and so in July of 2010, right at the beginning of Luts' Summer Event, she bought her Lishe, Codex. Unbeknownst to the both of us she ended up qualifying for the Event and since she didn't want the head she asked me if I wanted it. Of course I jumped at the chance since one of the sculpts reminded me of a character of mine and Taelan Niklus Thalos came home in a giant yellow box. 

Unfortunately he had no faceup due to a miscommunication and a fall off of Riley's lap getting out of the car resulted in me scratching the hell out of the left side of his face. :'( Being stupid and impressionable, I let a friend of mine talk me into sanding the pock marks out of Taelan's head and in the process messed up his chin and the bottom right side of his lip. (WHY I never thought to just try and boil it out, I'll never know)

Needless to say that just made me dislike him and it put him up in my closet for a few years until I got Phineas. Being the only big dude that Taelan's head would fit, I quickly got my depressed little elf out to try his head on Finny's body (much to the Irishman's chagrin). And LO! Taelan's giant head fit like a charm! He's a little more yellowed, obviously, but with the right faceup and some body matching he'll be right as rain.

Since, however, I cannot paint to save my life, that'll have to wait until I've got some funds. In the mean time I've decided to yellow Finny's man hands, (since I've kept them in the closet, they no longer match his body. I hadn't realized how much he'd yellowed in just the few months I've had him ^^;;;) and since his giant hands look strange with his head Taelan gets to play with his body.

Harmony A line Boy body Review

So since a few people on DoA wanted to know about the mobility of the A line body I figured this would be the easiest place to put all the information. ^_^ I apologize if they're a little bright, it was quite sunny when I decided to take the photo's. ^^;

This is the body sitting naturally.

This is pulling the top torso piece all the way forward without using the bottom torso piece.

I believe this is using the bottom piece pushed back as far as it can go. Either that or it's another photo of just the top torso.

So it isn't like I have all that much to say, but I kind of felt like I had to post since its been so long. It's been nearly a month since I got Phineas and I'm still as smitten as when he first came home. Though I have some huge beef with his elbow joints since they DO NOTHING. Although I like his knees since they lock in place in the back and make him stand like a rock. I'm going to be getting some wire once I get paid to wire his arms so he can actually have some kind of range of motion.

On the plus side, boredom has caused me to make him two shirts and a sweatshirt along with a ghetto clove.

Somebody said they thought it looked like a cigar and they're kinda right.

The first one was kind of the test shirt to see if I could even make a shirt in his size and it turned out way better than I expected.

 

The second one turned out even better because I mean, lookit those skulls! Who wouldn't want a badass skull T-shirt? And now he matches Booker and Ceinlyn. It almost makes me want to make three more for Ezmethe, Riley and Drix. ^^;;

I fucked up just a little on the sweater cuffs, but it's nothing I can't fix once I get bored enough again and since Summer is here in full force he's really not going to even need it for a while. Which reminds me that a friend of mine gave me a pair of shorts for him for giving her my Doll-Leaves Event doll.

I hadn't expected anything so it was quite a shock when she came over with them. Thankfully it's a style he'd wear so I happily accepted. ^_^ I also changed the eyes he came with to his default sparkly ones, though I'm thinking I might buy the same kind only a size up since they don't fit 100% in his eye wells. Which is a shame since I LOVE how they make him look older, but if you inspect him up close you can see a giant gap. T_T

They're so pretty though!

And after a huge photoshoot with a friend of mine (where he didn't come out in ANY of the photo's I took) Hell he's not even the subject of the only photo that came out.

Dat ass!

I decided to play around with a friend of mine's wig collection and settled on the light pink one she had for shits and giggles.

Now if only I could magically have it in dark brown.

And it turns out, he looks really really good in it. So she let me keep it since she didn't want it anymore. He's still going to get a dark brown one, but I think I'm going to try and find one in this style. I don't usually like fur wigs since it makes their heads look gigantic, but this really thin one works perfectly.

Sadly during the same outing I found out I really loved this wig, my friends doll ended up falling mid photo shoot and snapped his finger off. T_T He's a Crobidoll Nia and unfortunately Crobi doesn't sell hands separately. Thankfully Finny came with a pair of giant man hands so she was able to switch Edd's default hands with Finny's man hands for a while while she glued his pinky back on and for the moment Finny's borrowing her jointed hands. They're a horrible match but they're kind of adorable so I'm going to save up my pennies to get a pair for him in the normal pink instead of the normal yellow he's wearing at the moment.

Tomorrow is apparently International Lolita Day though, so I've been consigned to visit the local Tea House with a few friends of mine with our crew's for tasty Tea and onigiri. (Srsly I can't wait) So hopefully the next update will come sooner rather than later!

Phineas

I realize I haven't posted in a while, but that was mainly due to not having anything to say while I waited for my newest boy to ship. He's been a concept of my for something like close to 13 years now and I've finally turned him into a 3D model. (He was the entire reason I wanted an abjd in the first place).

I don't know when I first came up with him, but his earliest use was in 2004 when a friend of mine wanted to troll an HP rpg forum. It didn't exactly work and we ended up with a small core group of characters instead.

 But every year since then I've either been too poor to buy anything or somebody else has taken his place. He may be the first character I ever created but he's the sixth one to come home. XD

I'm sure he finds it irritating that Riley came home before he did.

I searched and searched and SEARCHED for years to find a sculpt I thought could really pull of his pissy I hate the world and everyone in it. Every time I thought I'd found one, it was either a Limited or a long discontinued and sold out sculpt that I knew I wasn't going to find again. (I have the unfortunate ability to find sculpts that are hugely unpopular for some reason.) So for a while I just gave up entirely.

I stumbled upon Little Monica by complete accident I wasn't expecting to see SD sized dolls. For some reason I'd gotten it in my head that they only sold tinies so I never bothered to pay attention to what they were doing. Even then I wasn't all that convinced, though I really liked Rennone. It wasn't until I did some searching on Flickr that I found Enrill attractive. Little Monica's photo's aren't the best and most of their pictures cover his eyes with his hair. But when I saw what others had been able to do, it was instant connection. Enrill was the one.

Luckily for me I had gotten a nice surprise with my tax return and the second it hit the bank I was scrolling through Little Monica's website. (Along with Alice's Collections for his clothes)

Then came the 2 month wait, sitting patiently on my thumbs for Little Monica to make him. But that time has arrived! After much worrying and freaking out over what the post office was doing with my package, I greeted the mailman barefoot yesterday to grab him before the guy had even opened the back of his truck. He didn't seem all that amused but I really didn't care since I had my package and was now running back to the house to open him.

It was a little scuffed but the box isn't the important thing.

Swag. He also came with a pair of giant 70cm man hands.
